Auction for Snakebite

India leads the world in mortality from snakebite:  50,000 annual deaths, and thousands more permanently disabled!  We herp lovers need to rally and get people to appreciate and conserve them.  The only way to do this is to educate people about the prevention and treatment of bites. And this is what the Snake Conservation and Snakebite Mitigation project is doing.

At the IHS 50th Anniversary Celebration on September 21st, let’s have an auction of herp-related items, to raise money for this project.  It is based at the Centre for Herpetology/Madras Crocodile Bank in South India.

So bring along something interesting, such as a snake book, painting, a bottle with a herpy label, toys…whatever you can find.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you all there!

Romulus Whitaker, Project Manager (India), Global Snakebite Initiative and Trustee, Centre for Herpetology/Madras Crocodile Bank.
